Food Waste Prevention Week, April 1-7, 2024
CAFE Food Rescue is excited to be participating in Food Waste Prevention Week, a week-long awareness campaign to inspire everyone to reduce food waste at home, at work, and in our communities. We can all reduce food waste and better support the economy, the environment, and the food-insecure in our communities.
For Food Waste Prevention Week we’ll be posting educational information on Facebook and Instagram. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay connected to our work!
CAFE Food Rescue reduces food waste by working with local businesses to gather surplus food and get it to the people who need it. Currently, we reclaim about 6% of the surplus food in Summit County, and our organization is growing quickly. Together, we are nourishing lives, protecting the environment, and creating a sustainable future.
Food rescue is especially gratifying because it reduces the environmental impacts of wasted food and it helps provide a nutritional and diverse diet to those facing food insecurity.
If you are interested in getting involved, we need food runners, food packagers, and anyone with skills to organize our work. Learn how you can Take Action by donating food, volunteering, or making a financial donation.
